2002 Bonaire Vacation Pictures
Arn's first diving experience

This is where Bonaire actually is.  It's a pretty remote little island.

Dave and Arn show off torches for some of the locals on the beach

Nice scenic shot at Washington Slagbaai National Park

Washington Slagbaai Blowhole.  Dave on the other side.

Dave and Arn taking a break at the Gutomeer lookout.  See the Gutomeer panoramic shot taken on a lookout just about here.

Lisa feeds the little lizards grapes.  "Here lizard lizard lizard!!".  Man did they fight over them!

Here ye! Here ye!  Scott has the Conch!  Blow Scott Blow!!! It makes a nice trumpet sound if you can get the lips right!

The whole gang took a pirate ship cruise listening to Jimmy Buffet and eating pizza.  Needless to say, it was the most expensive pizza I have ever eaten, but it was a nice trip along the coast.

Scott braves the high point of the pirate ship.

Wheeeeeeee!  I'm the King of the World!

Frank was our PADI dive instructor that got Rochelle and I through open water certification. Ask about our adventures with Frank..

Whole gang day 2 at Richard's restaurant.  (Left to Right: Scott, Tiffany, Rochelle, Lisa, Dave and Arn)

The view of the ocean from the deck of the house where we stayed.

We all Suit up for La Dania's Leap drift dive to Karpata.  This was an awesome dive.  We saw a bunch of turtles, a big moray eel and some of the prettiest coral.  That's Bas, a local friend in the background giving us direction and helping out.

A little iguana by the ocean.  We saw quite a few of these guys while we were there.

The terrain at the park was rough.  I'd hate to be stranded in the middle of all these cacti!

Lisa, Dave and I climbed up to a lookout point on the northern edge of the island.  See the panoramic shot from the top of this hill

Dave and Lisa by their favorite tree. It doesn't look like much, but the flowers smell wonderful.  It wasn't uncommon for Dave to shout at the other tourists "Did you smell the tree!!!!?"

Dave is convinced he will own this tree some day, if anyone can identify it for him!  It's the only one on the island we saw.

Rochelle stands by a pink flamingo at Gutomeer Park.  We saw lots of these fellows walking around out there.

North Shore at Washington Slagbaai National Park.  Rochelle got attacked by a tiny bird here, which we all enjoyed watching her run as the bird dive bombed her head.

Rum Drinks, beer, warm pool, splat balls, last day on the island.  Need I say more?
